Goddess Bites

In Ayurveda this is what we call a Tridoshic Snack because it benefits all the doshas through its different ingredients which have a wide range of tastes.  The ingredients in this snack come together to balance each dosha equally, and by using Ghee we activate and enkindle our agni (digestive juices), in preparation for digestion.

Ingredients:
  • Dates (pitted)
  • Ghee
  • Almonds (soaked, sliced and peeled)
  • Fresh Ginger
  • Cacao (powder)
  • Cardamom (powder)

To get the almonds ready, soak them for one or two days, then rinse well, and peel the skin, keep in the refrigerator. It is important that the almonds are soaked so that they are softer and you are able to peel them.

Preparation

Slice dates in half, fill inside with ghee, add slice almond, place slices of ginger, sprinkle cacao and cardamom. Enjoy in one single bite!

Ideally, having 2-3 of these bites before eating, is essential to activate agni [digestive juices], as well as consuming these snacks between meals. If you are in a hurry, just adding ghee to the dates will still be a great source of energy and sweetness. You do not have to add all the ingredients, but the main ones are the date and the ghee. My daughter Gaia absolutely loves eating these with ghee, since she could eat spoons full of Ghee all the time.
