Gaia’s Green Goddess Juice

I think juicing is the easiest and most delicious way to consume all the nutrients in vegetables and fruits. Finding the right synergy between these is the clue to delicious smoothies. When I juice fruit I always add Turmeric. When I juice vegetables I always add spirulina,  Chlorella and Wheatgrass powders. Adding the sweet taste of fruit to green juices will camouflage the strong taste of the green powders. Now being honest, Gaia is not fond of juices (except for watermelon), so I have not been successful in getting her to drink green juices, but my husband does!  She does drink the fruity smoothies with the Turmeric but under special circumstances: ice cream. That is why I created the Turmeric ice cream.

I found this recipe in an old Ayurvedic book which apparently is out of circulation. If you are doubtful about green juices and their strong taste, this juice is a great start as it is super smooth and sweet in taste.


PREP: 5 MINS  – YIELD: 2 Small cups
  • 2 Tbs mint leaves
  • 1 Tbs coriander leave
  • 1 tsp ginger (I recommend fresh)
  • ½ tsp honey (local)
  • 1 tsp spirulina powder
  • 8 oz apple juice
  • pinch cayenne pepper

Mix all ingredients in the blender. Drink after meals, so as to not disturb agni (digestive juices). Vata dominant constitutions should not drink cold.
