Alkaline Water

Our brains are made up of about 70% water, our bodies about 80%, thus water should be considered one of the most important elements [if not the most] we put into our body on a daily basis. Each morning as we wake up, we are already 2 cups dehydrated. However, it is imperative to consume a small cup of warm water or hot tea before eating, as it will help activate agni-fire [or the digestive juices] in for a successful digestive process through out the day.

It is important to keep our body alkaline, as cancer cells cannot live in this type of environment, only in an acidic one, for these also create this type of habitat around them. Keeping our body with a neutral PH level will boost our metabolism and immune system as it supports a healthy environment for fatty acids, enzymes, and good bacteria. These will essentially prevent inflammation in our body, thus preventing the development of cancer cells. 

The taste of this water of course is a bit salty, but for some reason it is very refreshing, especially when you are thirsty. As for my 4-year old Gaia, I can say like any other child, somedays she loves it, and somedays she tastes it and makes a funny face. But all in all, it is easy to make and worth having a pitcher in the fridge. You could also think about it as an “acquired taste”

Ingredients: 
  • 1 liter of filtered water
  • 1 lemon cut in fourths or eighths (do not squeeze)
  • 1 Tablespoon of himalayan pink salt (or sea salt)
preparation

Pour water in glass jar, drop the four pieces of lemon and the salt. Stir, and let sit over night for 8-12 hours at room temperature. Then you can keep in the refrigerator. When drinking I recommend mixing 1/2 of this cold water with 1/2 of room temperature water, especially before meals.


Lemons

With the high Vitamin C levels, these fight immflamuation, thus boosting our immune system. Their fiber content helps to balance blood glucose levels. This magnificent fruit is also anionic, so when we drink lemon water, our body reacts with the anionic properties of the lemon making the water alkaline as our body digests it. Adding Himalayan pink salt mineralizes our alkaline water.

This water provides mineral balance, which promotes proper food and water absorption in our body, allowing essential nutrients to get where they need to be. The alkalizing effects of lemon and natural salt are highly useful for managing our body’s pH balance, which is crucial for optimal functioning of the body’s systems.
